Firestage says
Firestage, Downtown Phoenix's longest running open mic/variety show has presented eclectic and unexpected performances by all kinds of creative humanoid forms ---including poets, comedians, improvisers, musicians, dancers, singers, storytellers and performance artists, among others --- every third Friday of the month, since midish 2008.

We are very proud of these eight exciting years of uncensored, unbound and unlimited artistic expressions by friends and strangers alike, some seasoned, others on the green side, but all of them true to their talent and generous in their sharing.

In 2009, Firestage was named Best Place to be Seen on Third Fridays on the Phoenix New Times’ Best of Phoenix issue.

Alas, everything that started must end, and this is the last #Firestage show at The Firehouse Gallery as we know it. Please join us in this momentous ocassion to celebrate our love for the arts and the community as we bid farewell to this beloved venue.

The future might bring Firestage back from the ashes (like Ozzy, who has "retired" several times; or Superman and Spiderman, who have "died" at least twice), but for the time being this is the swan song for the event that never denied a chance.

So, we aim to go out in style, not at all gently into the good night, but with an epic program full of local favorites and surprises galore!

We are very excited to confirm a very special performance by Matavenados, a kickass indie rock band from Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, as part of their current US tour!

Complete lineup TBA...

As always, if you or someone you know is looking to be part of this landmark show, please leave the name and description of the performance in the comments below, and we shall reserve you a spot.

This evening will also pay tribute to our brothers and sisters victims of The Oakland Ghost Ship Fire, with all proceeds being directed to fire prevention and safety at the ThoughtCrime buildings.

Please feel free to contact Ernesto Moncada or The Firehouse Gallery for any questions.

Suggested donation: $5

Hosted by #Ernasty (who is not retiring, by the way).
