“Endowed with a voice of phenomenal beauty and flexibility . . .”—New York Times

Jane Monheit has had plenty of milestone moments in establishing herself as one of today’s best and most important vocalist-musicians. Her recent album, The Songbook Sessions: Ella Fitzgerald, pays joyous tribute to Fitzgerald while sharing a definitive portrait of herself. Monheit will be performing arrangements from her new album as well as previous favorites.

It was her second-place finish in the 1998 Thelonious Monk Jazz Competition that turned people’s heads and thrust her into the spotlight, heralding the arrival of a teenager with enormous talent. Her debut record, Never Never Land, was voted Best Debut Recording by members of the Jazz Journalists Association and stayed on the Billboard charts for over a year. Her next release, Come Dream with Me, entered the charts at number one and was nominated for a GRAMMY Award.

Originally modeled as the Next Great Jazz Singer after Diana Krall, Monheit has since taken her own path, showcasing her sumptuous voice on a variety of projects: Brazilian bossa novas, symphony orchestras, Christmas classics, tributes, and standards. With her latest releases, Monheit has come into her own. She is in complete control, presenting pop tunes and standards alike, and establishing herself as one of our truly great singers.
