"Electrifyingly new and strangely familiar at the same time. With his mix of modern sounds and old-fashioned feeling, Raymond is steering jazz in the right direction." (Downbeat)

Labeled "a prepossessing young trumpet player" (New York Times), John Raymond has established himself as one of the most promising, up-and-coming jazz musicians in New York. He has collaborated with musicians such as Billy Hart, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Orrin Evans, Linda Oh, Ethan Iverson, Dan Tepfer and Gilad Hekselman among others. He's been a featured artist at the FONT Festival and NYC Winter Jazz Festival, has recorded with Grammy-nominated singer Sara Bareilles as well as Dove Award-winning producer Darnell Davis, and has performed at events such as the Austin City Limits Music Festival and on NPR's 'Toast of the Nation.'

John's album "Foreign Territory", released in April 2015 and featuring Billy Hart, Dan Tepfer and Joe Martin, drew critical acclaim from the New York Times, Downbeat Magazine and others. Of note, his composition “Deeper” was chosen as a winner of the 2015 Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Award presented by ASCAP. His most recent album, "Real Feels," was released in February 2016 and includes a number of familiar songs done in fresh, invigorating ways including "This Land Is Your Land," "Blackbird," "Amazing Grace" and others.

John currently teaches at the United Nations International School, the New York Jazz Academy and is an active guest artist and clinician at high schools and universities around the country.
