In the final concert of Maestro Muñoz’ debut season, The Phoenix Symphony presents Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 in a musical journey of triumph over death. Praised by the Cleveland Plain Dealer as “impossible to resist, captivating with lyricism, tonal warmth, and boundless enthusiasm,” violinist Giora Schmidt makes his Phoenix Symphony debut
with Bruch’s enduring first violin concerto. The program opens with Finding Rothko, an enchanting piece reflecting on four of the abstract works by Russian artist Mark Rothko by the young American composer, Adam Schoenberg.
