Have you ever really looked at candy? I have. Lots of it.

Walk into any convenience store, and it’ll be there. Usually near the counter and low, so the kids can get at it. You’ll also notice a lot of the candy is yellow and black. Why? Because no other color combination makes the eye vibrate more than yellow and black.

My candy paintings are an homage to the men and women who designed those classic candy wrappers. And they did it without computers. They cut rubylith! [Google it.]

Why do I paint candy? Because I like candy. Never trust anyone who doesn’t.

Every once-in-awhile an animal, bird or insect will appear in one of my paintings. I confess, I honestly don’t remember why. They just seem right, you know?
