Class will start at 6:30pm on Tuesday!

This summer [nueBOX] will be hosting a series of classes with rotating teachers from 6-7pm, followed by FREE shared rehearsal space from 7-9pm. If you are looking for a place to create, if you want to connect with the dance community, if you don't have a lot of money but need some space... we are here for you!

One June 27, Shannon Phillips will teach an Afro-Modern class from 6:30-7:30pm.

Shannon Phillips is a 24 year old Artist from Iowa. Her style is Afro-Modern. An infusion of African dance and Modern dance. In this style she feels most at home. Being able to express herself freely in a peaceful realm. Dance is an outlet for Shannon. The only way to shed the negatives to create a better, positive, atmosphere. She continually plays with concepts like "Self-love", "Identity", "love", "Happiness", and "seeking". Shannon uses movement to muscle through these vital emotions.

Her foundation started with Imani Dancers Studio for Cultural Arts in 2006. Here she performed for the company and trained. Shannon studied dance at Columbia College Chicago for two years. In Chicago she joined Zenith Dance Company directed by, Joffrey dancer, Carl Jeffries. She finished her studies at Western Illinois University. Earning a degree in Political Science Pre-Law with a dance minor. At Western her love for Dance flourished. Here She created 4 main stage piece. One of those pieces being "Molting" which she took to the "Going Dutch Festival" this past summer. The festival in Chicago honors women choreographers. She also took the same piece to ACDA!


This offering will be held every Tuesday at Childsplay's Mitchell School space in Tempe (900 S Mitchell Dr, Tempe, AZ 85281, Classroom #3) from June 6 - August 8 (No Class July 4)
