Arizona Premiere of Steve Gompf’s animation – “Parade: The Absolute End of the World” which has been nearly eight years in the making. Reminiscent of Hieronymus Bosch’s “The Garden of Delights,” this animation consisting of approximately eighteen thousand individual frames incorporates over two thousands individual animated elements and hundreds of digitally manipulated, recombined and reanimated images of Eadweard Muybridge’s photographic motion studies (and a few of Etienne Jules Marey’s and Lucien Bull’s) from the late 19th century. This work, when viewed with special viewing glasses, pops into 3D via the Pulfrich Effect.
Also at this event DVD’s of Mr Gompf’s animations will be for purchase to the public for the first time as well as reasonably priced framed prints of stills from Telecasts for Televisor

This event is a fundraiser for the production and staging of Mr. Gompf’s solo exhibition “Distant Visions: Apparatus and Ephemera from the Televisor Era 1884-1928″ scheduled for January 22 – May 1, 2016 at the Mesa Arts Center.
