About Bill Dambrova:

Bill's love of art, artifacts, and biology lead to a career as an exhibition designer specializing in Natural History Museums, Zoos and Aquariums. In 2003 Bill moved from his hometown of Phoenix to Los Angeles where he was a designer at The Getty Center, The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles, and the Aquarium of the Pacific. Creating educational exhibitions through artifacts and storytelling has inspired Bill to create artwork that allows him to connect and interact with the viewer in new ways. Themes that often occur in his art are of physical healing, spiritual growth, science, animism, archetypes, and art historical references. Bill is currently living in Downtown Phoenix again creating artwork from his Grand avenue studio in Bragg’s Pie Factory.

Artist Statement:

My artwork is a layering of organic imagery, expressive mark making, art historical reference, and universal symbols to tell stories that celebrate the miraculous events that I imagine are going on inside our bodies and our minds. By stylizing and deconstructing biological forms and archetypal imagery in a playful way my goal is to discover new images—as well as update traditional images and stories. I strive to make paintings that have, “a little room left in them” in order to encourage the viewer to complete the artwork by adding his or her own layer of meaning to what they see and experience.
