Panorama Lounge @ Fraser Place Namdaemun
Youâve probably seen those long-exposure editorial photos or stock images of Namdaemun Gate surrounded by high rises and streaks of car lights passing by the area. The exact spot where most of those pictures were taken is the 16th-floor terrace lounge at the Fraser Place. Itâs one of the best places to get a great panoramic view of the Namdaemun landmark, day and nightâhence the name Panorama Lounge. The lounge itself is divided in two, with available seating in the inside and the outdoor terrace. One of the good things about the space is that awning screens set up outside will save you from the often harsh summer sun and occasional rain. The indoor isnât crazy fancy or anything, but the night view of the city is indeed stunning. Because itâs such a popular destination among the neighboring office workers, weekends are actually a better time to visit.  Aside from the obvious visual pleasures offered, there's also a lot to eat and drink here with chop steak, sausages and braised mussels, classic cocktails, single malt whiskeys, beer and wine included in the menu. One weekends, the Panorama Lounge offers a brunch menu: French toast, sausage, bacon and eggs (16,500 won), 4-cheese omelet (16,500 won) and eggs benedict (18,700 won).

My Sky
Yup, it's the latest addition to the celebrity restauranteur Hong Seok-cheon's "My" series. The rooftop bar housed on top of a building which Hong purchased and had renovated himself has attracted lots of locals and tourists alike alreadyâsurrounded by the million-dollar night view of Seoul Tower, the rooftop space along with the 5th-floor restaurant decorated with flashy pink and purple neon signs does live up to the now household name. The inside is filled with indeed everything trendy; from the hand-crafted mother of pearl inlay chest of drawers to large-size black-and-white portraits, it showcases all of the furniture pieces and types of artworks that are considered "in" right now. The menu is surprisingly large, with salads, pastas and steaks priced at around 20,000 won. As with all of the other "My" series of restaurants, the food itself isn't something you'd want to go back to this place for, but the barley risotto made with squid ink was great. The cheapest beer here is priced at 7,000 won, and the grapefruit beer priced at 9,000 won is actually quite refreshing especially for hot summer days. Above all, though, what will put My Sky on the map is the scenery. Although it isn't very high up, the lack of high-rises in the area provides an unobtrusive view that is pretty much warmed up with the quaint houses nestled around the building along with rays of orange light beaming down the scene.Â

Andy's Table
Upon preparing to open a restaurant, the president of Andyâs Table realized that there are a lot of young Koreans who rigorously study and practice cooking in foreign countries. Unfortunately, what he also realized was that upon returning to their home country, many of these young professional chefs were unable to find places to continue their creative endeavors â Korea just didnât have good infrastructures to support them. The result of the findings was Andyâs Table, a place where young chefs can set up pop-up restaurants. Located in the middle of Seorae Village, the Andyâs Table is working to create a new pop-up almost once a month, if not once a week. When Seoul is seeing a boom in the restaurant industry, pop-ups like Lim Jung-sikâs Gomtang (beef-bone soup) pop-up and Joseph Lidgerwoodâs adventurous take on Korean ingredients are making places like Andyâs Table a leader in cultural events. As the venue has an open kitchen, guests will be able to experience first-hand the makings of their dishes, while a cooking classes, chef lectures, and various other studios are also made possible. There is even a small gallery for guests to enjoy some art.

Sowol-gil Milyoung
Sowol-gil Milyoung is a café that has called central Huam-dong home for the past 5 years. The owner has had to leave the area several times for a job, but returned to the place to open a café with his wife. His hope, interestingly, is that neither their café nor the district would become a popular destination like its neighboring Haebangchon or Itaewon has been. Yet Sowol-gil Milyoung has become a quite a place to be in the Huam-dong bus stop area. There are several reasons why the patrons visit this café almost regularly. The first would be the wide array of cakes that the owners bake at the shop, and the nice selection of tea. The Milyoung Hongcha which is Taiwanese style black tea has strong and floral aromas with a soothingly sweet (almost honey-like) aftertaste. The atmosphere of the café provides definitely another reason; some of the patrons read books here for hours on end (there is a collection of second-hand books available here for purchase, and visit every Sunday to attend the book club hosted by the owners. The windows of the café face the quaint neighborhood, making it a perfect place to hold a book, drink some tea, and read while the sun sprinkles its warmth on your face.

Tonkatsu Baekban Shinmun-ro
This restaurant mainly caters to office workers around the area. The waiting line during lunch time can, accordingly, get extremely long on weekdays. It's one of those âbaekbanâ restaurants offering a meal consisted with rice, soup and side dishes, but its real charm comes from its unlimited tonkatsu deals. In addition to the crispy goodness, you'll get 3 side dishes: SautĂ©d spinach, eokmuk (fish cakes) and radish kimchi. Then the dwenjangjigae (bean paste soup) along with a sauce-covered tonkatsu will be delivered. You will be first given 2 pieces of tonkatsu, which is often enough to fill your stomach, but you are always welcomed to order more if you need. If you ever visit the neighboring art museums, Tonkatsu Baekban Shinmun-ro's decent side dishes along with unlimited tonkatsu deal will certainly make for a sweet deal, especially if you're with a child. The price is set at 11,000 won per person, and for children it is offered at 6,000 won.

Don't Panic
Donât Panic is a cafĂ© during the day and a bar during the night. In practice, though, its identity seemed a little murky when I visited â even though it was already set up as a bar by the evening, the lighting was much too strong. It made me feel as if I was sipping on my cocktail at a cafĂ© awkwardly before going to work. If you're looking for a more "serious" bar, you can just walk upstairs, though; Big Blue located on the second floor encompasses a classy-yet-chill vibe with a professional staff, serving cocktails, steak and pasta (while the drink menus at both venues are supposedly the same, Don't Panic was low on a lot of its liquor selections when I visited). I tried the Irish coffee, and the mix of espresso with Jameson whiskey, topped with pre-made (refrigerated) cream, was actually served cold. I didn't like the fact that it's served in a plastic cup when it wasn't for a takeaway, but it was just sweet, bitter and refreshing enough. Would I come back here? Probably, only for coffee, during the day. For drinks, you might want to head up to Big Blue instead â or, to Ox located in Hannam-dong, which is latest venture of the bar owner.

Felt Coffee
Think of yourself as a trendy and up to date coffee enthusiast? If so, youâll probably know about the âEunpa Pianoâ sign in Changcheon-dong. Itâs where Felt Coffee is located - inside a former piano training school. Although the two baristas (Kim Young-hyun and Song Dae-woong) opened this place equipped with various equipment, they kept the small space modest and simple. More emphasis on its coffee and less on the looks, youâll know what this means once you pay a visit to Felt Coffee. The main drinks served at Felt Coffe are the espresso, Americano, and brewed (hand dripped) coffee. The 3,000 won Americano is not just affordable but of high quality as Felt Coffee only uses authentic specialty coffee beans, all of which are roasted in house. The Coffee beans vary depending on season but regardless, they are all harmonized in flavor, acidity, viscosity, and sweetness. The brewed hand dripped coffee made with the Alto Air dripper is strongly recommended as you will be able to smell and taste the aromatic sweetness with each sip. Fo the beans that are being used, the sl28 beans (brought directly from the Herbazu coffee farm in Costa Rica) leave a lasting impression. These beans are the result of Kenyaâs beans and Costa Ricaâs rich soil, bringing a whole new tropical flavor and sweetness of juicy fruit. The Costa Rica-Kenya coffee is a fairly experimental one, run only in a few coffee farms around the world. Thanks to the trust earned by Felt Coffee through its direct coffee impor

Salt Cave Healing Center
It might feel a little random to find this small oasis of tranquility amongst Namdaemunâs chaos, but the Salt Cave Healing Center is indeed located as soon as you come out of Hoehyeon Stationâs exit 3. The center has been in service for 4 years now, and most visitors come for therapy usually during lunch time; there are almost no visitors after 5pm. The salt cave lends its name from a room made entirely from salt (walls, floor and even the ceiling). The point is to come here, relax, take a nap and heal yourself with whatever energy this natural element can fuse into you. After putting on the sanitary shoe covers, you will enter the frosty white room lit with a blue light. The 2-3cm thick walls are made from white plaster and to create a more cave like atmosphere, the ceilings have a few salt icicles hanging down. The floor, which is covered in white salt, looks like a soft beach sand but is far from. It almost feels like walking on a pile of snow that has melted and frozen about two times. Sun-dried pacific salt is what you are actually walking on. For those who are suffering from asthma, rhinitis (simply put certain kind of allergies) and are on the verge of getting a cold, breathing in some salt (1-5 micrometer) particles diffused in the air might help; so the center claims. Whether itâs the minerals, the ions or just plain fatigue, many people who come here get a deep (albeit short) sleep. There are around 6 beds made of wood, 2 of which are inside a private room. Just lie
