Red Sugar’s new cocktail menu – Cantonese heritage flowing into liquid poetry

Red Sugar at Kerry Hotel unfolds a lyrical journey with ‘LiĂș’ (flow), its new cocktail menu. Inspired by the ancient Chinese philosophy of the Four Seasons and the symbolic Four Gentlemen, the menu celebrates virtues of grace, resilience, integrity, and elegance through a series of modern libations that feel both timeless and fresh.    Revel in familiar Cantonese flavours – Chenpi, salted plum, chrysanthemum – reimagined with contemporary mixology techniques like fat‑washing, tea infusions, and smoke aromatics. Highlights include ChĆ«n (spring), a floral gin sour kissed with Tieguanyin tea and elderflower liqueur, capturing the delicate fragrance of spring. Dƍng (winter) offers a bold twist on the Old Fashioned, with goose fat‑washed bourbon and a whisper of lychee wood smoke – an homage to Hong Kong’s iconic roast goose. For something tart and soothing, MĂ©i (plum) blends salted plum, Huadiao wine, and hibiscus tea, while ZhĂș (bamboo) refreshes with Chu Yeh Ching Chiew, cucumber, and pineapple juice.  Photograph: Courtesy Kerry Hotel Hong Kong Each cocktail is priced at HK$148 (plus 10% service charge). Silk Road splendour: Tang dynasty wonders in Hong Kong

Silk Road splendour: Tang dynasty wonders in Hong Kong

Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre has opened its doors to a captivating cultural showcase on Tang dynasty. From now until December 31, ‘Tang Vogue Beyond the Horizons: A Golden Era of Multicultural Integration and Openness’ exhibition gives you a rare glimpse of this remarkable historical period. Jointly organised by the Development Bureau and the National Cultural Heritage Administration, the exhibition celebrates the dynasty’s cosmopolitan spirit and highlights Hong Kong’s significance along the Maritime Silk Road.   Tang dynasty, often hailed as China’s golden age, was a period defined by prosperity, openness, and cultural integration. This exhibition captures that vibrancy through eight sections that explore everything from the governance of the dynasty to the flourishing of art and craftsmanship. Visitors can get up close with the planning of Chang’an city, the daily lives of its people and literati, and their religious beliefs. The Silk Road, both overland and maritime, comes alive here, with Hong Kong’s own archaeological finds – ceramic ware, currency, ornaments, and weapons unearthed along the northern coast of Lantau Island – reminding us of the city’s pivotal role in global trade centuries ago.
