Here comes the rain again, Bay Area

Our prayers and wishes have been answers. Rain is due to return this weekend and it just may be the most sky water we've seen in seven months.

Starting on Thursday night, our friends in the North Bay will start to see showers. The blessed rain will make its way to San Francisco by Friday and hopefully stick around all weekend. If you're not a fan of the rain, you should be. California is still suffering at the hands of a multi-year drought. Plus, San Francisco needs a bath. Rain washes our sidewalks, our buses and our windows. It's a refreshing taste of fall and the perfect excuse to wear rubber boots to work.

"This is sort of what we expect in the second week in October," meteorologist for Golden Gate Weather Services Jan Null told SFGate. "Each storm gets progressively stronger and wetter. We also expect this time of year to see this roller coaster between very hot and cool temperatures."

The last time this area got any real rain was this past April—and the last time we saw as much rain as we'll get this coming weekend (up to an inch) was in March. Our pending (and totally normal for this time of year) storm is welcome news indeed.

"It is important to prepare now, ahead of the rain. Change windshield wipers, check tires, fix leaks in your residence, finish outdoor projects or bring them inside, etc.," warns National Weather Service meteorologist Brian Garcia, also to SFGate

If you're still struggling to rally enthusiasm for this weekend's showers, here are 16 reasons to get excited for rain in San Francisco
