Moscow Mule carts are a thing now

Moscow Mules, the delicious cocktail made of vodka, ginger beer, and a splash of lime served in a copper mug, seem to be everywhere these days. They were the cocktail of choice at the recent GLAAD Gala at the Metreon, the city's most old school and new school bars proudly feature them on the cocktail menu, and now one local watering hole is reeling in drinkers with an actual Moscow Mule cart

You probably know Americano as the streamlined bar and restaurant attached to Hotel Vitale along the Embarcadero—the one with the standing-room-only outdoor drinking garden that's jam packed with FiDi workers on hot days. Just in time for San Francisco's famous Indian Summer, Americano is rolling out (literally) a brilliant idea that we're itching to try.

The "Stoli Moscow Mule Cart" is a booze experiment on wheels. During the drunken window of September 22nd thought October 20th, guests at Americano can indulge in Oprah's favorite libation from Americano's innovative cart. Classic Moscow Mules are the cart's mainstay and run $12, but mixologist-cartpushers will also be muddling in some fruity fun upon request.

The timing is just right as our annual heat wave ramps up and Americano's outdoor bar begins to burst at the seams. Who wants to wait in line for another cocktail when a cart can bring the booze to you? If the cart is a hit, perhaps Americano will offer a cozy and alcoholic cocoa cart this winter when they enclose that cocktail garden beneath their famed foul-weather tent. Here's hoping.
