The 5 best drag shows in San Francisco

No performance is quite as fabulous as a drag performance, and San Francisco has no shortage of great shows. From vintage beauties serving up Sunday brunch to late-night dancing divas, our local ladies entertain like nowhere else:

Sunday's A Drag: This isn't your grandma's Sunday brunch. Harry Denton's Starlight Room atop the Sir Francis Drake Hotel might be a nightclub with a view on Saturday, but come Sunday morning the windows are blacked out, brunch is served and a sequined extravaganza takes over. Hosted by local legend Donna Sachet and her cabal of queens, brunch is served at 10:30am and 1pm, and tickets run $60. 450 Powell Street, SF

Aunt Charlie's Lounge: What happens when you combine a dive bar with a drag show stage? The answer is Aunt Charlie's, a Tenderloin institution that only looks dicey from the outside. Within the storied walls of this San Francisco icon, drinks are cheap and wigs are expensive. We particularly love the (free!) Dream Queens Revue Drag Show, happening the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. 133 Turk Street, SF

AsiaSF: Sure your mom has already been to AsiaSF, but that doesn't make this tourist-y nightclub any less fabulous. Those bartenders serving up pink Cosmos are also performers—and their drag game is as strong as their pour. The ladies of AsiaSF describe themselves as "the fantasy Las Vegas wishes it had." Dinner shows are the most popular, especially for raucous bachelorette parties. All Friday and Saturday night shows include a red carpet, complete with a paparazzi-friendly step-and-repeat. 201 9th Street, SF

Oasis: One of San Francisco's newest clubs is also one of its best. Co-owned by the super-talented and beloved Heklina, Oasis hosts a myriad of amazing performances, from an all-drag version of actual Sex and the City episodes (among other sitcoms) to Saturday's night's "Mother", an ever changing weekly show in which the club's queens take on everything from Disney princesses to a truly mind-blowing interpretation of Brittney versus Christina. 298 11th Street, SF

Divas: Considered one of the premiere transgender clubs in the country, Divas is located in the heart of San Francisco, naturally. Sunday karaoke is incredibly fun at this three-story downtown palace, not to mention Friday and Saturday night's lip-sync specials. It's worth noting that Wednesday and Thursday Divas shows are topless shows, which are also pretty fabulous, if that's your thing. 1081 Post Street, SF
