This is what Taco Tuesday dreams are made of. On July 17, three of the Bay Area's top female chefs—Nicole Marin from Uma Casa, Casey Rebecca Nunes of Media Noche and Marianne Despres of El Sur—will engage in an epic taco competition, presenting their own unique spins on California's favorite meal.

Taco' Bout It will not only entice eaters with tasty tacos, but also raise awareness and funds as we head into the midterm elections. As for the food lineup: If you’ve ever dreamed of a taco with Merlot braised short rib, chimichurri, pickled red onion, radish, and jalapeño, Marianne Despres of El Sur has you covered. Meanwhile, Casey Rebecca Nunes of Uma Casa will be doing a Southeast Asian inspired take. Nicole Marin is opting for a classic Northern Mexico style machaca taco, with flour tortilla, shredded beef, and pinto beans with a chipotle tomatillo salsa. And as a special treat, hosting restaurant TRES has drafted one of their star line cooks to represent:  Cecelia Contreras, who originally hails from Michoacán, will make a taco inspired by beloved Mexican dish, the Pachuco.

The taco takedown takes place at TRES Tequila Lounge and Mexican Kitchen from 6-9pm. Tickets are $40 and include tacos from all participants as well as three drinks of your choice from the bar (beer and tequila and mescal cocktails). Proceeds go to support Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice America.

Let the feast begin!
