Thirukoneswaran kovil

The majestic temple is one of the five Ishwarams of Lord Shiva (Shrines of the lord that has special historical and cultural value). The Lingam statue of the lord is said to have been found naturally and the temple was built honouring the Lord’s wish to preside at the location. The kovil has a distinct location as it is situated atop the Swami Rock. A huge statue of Lord Shiva, rising to a height of 33 feet decorated in hues of blue is found outside the kovil. The kovil is visited by many devotees  across the Island and visitors from overseas gather here as well. Huge crowds gather during the time of Shivarathri and various programs are organised by the kovil.
