Fotografiska kicks off its big autumn exhibition with a party

Harder Better Faster Stronger – Are Men OK? The title of Fotografiska’s major autumn exhibition sounds like Daft Punk and throws a firecracker into the debate around masculinity. Thirty artists from around the world explore what it really means to be a man today. The exhibition opens on 3 October, and the night before, there’s a party.

The programme has been put together with the theme in mind. Sibille Attar will perform on Scenen Annie, while the masked electronic punk collective Cockhouse will parody lad culture. The evening’s final performance comes from KURT, an artist who has adopted a male identity to question who gets to take up space in the music industry, surrounded by the works in the exhibition hall.

Mash Up International will also be on DJ duty in the exhibition space, with the bar open among the photographs. Upstairs, drummer Anna “Ankan” Lund will play synth jazz in the restaurant, while Södra Latin’s dance classes will host dance battles in the Studio. Add champagne and oysters, plus the chance to screen-print your own tote bag with the exhibition title in the shop. Basically, a better goodie bag.

The party takes place on Friday 2 October from 18.00–23.00. Tickets cost SEK 195, but you can get 20 per cent off if you buy before 27 September. Members get free entry, subject to capacity. More information and tickets via Fotografiska’s website.
