Göta Lejon launches its own comedy club – opening in November

Göta Lejon has spent the past thirty years putting on musicals. Jesus Christ Superstar, The Sound of Music, Priscilla Queen of the Desert – the iconic venue on Götgatan has seen them all, and before that it was Sweden’s largest cinema. Now stand-up is coming to the programme.

Göta Lejon Comedy Club is the name of the new venture, described as a recurring comedy night bringing together established comedians and newer names. The first night takes place on 18 November.

The line-up is hardly modest. Messiah Hallberg needs little introduction. Branne Pavlovic, currently a presenter on Morgonpasset i P3, is known for his uncompromising and personal stand-up. Viktor Engberg brings improvisation and audience interaction to the stage, while Josefin Sonck moves between sharp observations and darker material. Svea Sigmond will be the evening’s MC.
