Tjoget team to open beer café: “We want to create a little Copenhagen”

There was a time when Stockholm was full of beer cafés. Then they disappeared. In Copenhagen, on the other hand, you can still find them on pretty much every corner.

Now 20-Gruppen, the people behind Tjoget, Liebling And G.A.T. wants to bring the culture back to life. Kafé Søder is the name of the new place, and the spelling of Söder says a lot about what it’s all about. The Swedish-Danish beer café is opening in the newly renovated Söderhallarna.

“You could say we want to create a little Copenhagen, combined with a healthy dose of Stockholm nostalgia – there’ll be Swedish beer on tap and Danish beer in bottles,” says Joel Söderbäck from 20-Gruppen.

The same logic applies to the food. Meatballs and homemade kroppkakor share the menu with smørrebrød and sweet treats. In the glass: beer from local breweries, a short but carefully considered wine list and aquavit.

Restaurant manager will be Marta Bystedt, who most recently held the same role at Liebling. In the kitchen is Patrik Cedercrona, whose background includes classic Stockholm restaurants such as Strandvägen 1, Broms and Brasserie Hötorget.
