Vyn, in the picturesque village of Skillinge, has climbed from 47th to 23rd place on this year’s list, which was announced in Lima this week. That makes it the only Swedish restaurant in the top 50, which ranks the world’s best restaurants.

It’s less good news for Stockholm. Björn Frantzén’s three-Michelin-starred flagship restaurant in Norrmalm has dropped from 38th to 58th place, falling outside the top 50 for the first time since 2018. Frantzén’s highest position was sixth in 2021, which remains the best ranking ever achieved by a Swedish restaurant.

The top spot this year goes to Spanish grill restaurant Asador Etxebarri, located in the Basque village of Axpe. Denmark has two (!) restaurants in the top ten: Alchemist in third place and Kadeau in eighth.

The annual The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list is compiled by a jury of more than 1,000 restaurateurs, chefs, food writers and gastronomes. You can find the full top 50 list here.

Frantzén is located at Klara Norra Kyrkogata 26 in Norrmalm. Vyn is in Skillinge on Österlen.
