Dopp is the brainchild of Stefan Ekengren, co-owner and head chef at Östermalm favourite Restaurang Hantverket, together with bartender Erik Andersson. The concept is simple: bakery and café Eken, which opened in the same space last winter, closes at 17:00, when the coffee and buns are replaced by cocktails and snacks.

”Here, spirits, carefully selected ingredients and the glasses themselves are the focus. Dopp opens when Eken closes for the day and should feel like just as natural a part of the space in the evening as the bakery and café do during the day”, says bar manager Erik Andersson.

Andersson has been bar manager at Röda Huset, one of two Swedish bars on this year’s Europe’s 50 Best Bars list, and helped open Facit Bar in Umeå. Earlier this year, he was named Bartender of the Year by Falstaff.

Dopp is not a restaurant. But anyone who gets hungry with their drink won’t have to settle for almonds: the menu consists of snacks and more substantial bites, created specifically for the bar.

”Of course, you should be able to eat something good at Dopp. It should be considered, tasty and above all a little more fun than almonds and crisps. Selected pastries will also remain available in the evenings”, says Stefan Ekengren.

Dopp is located at Sturegatan 19, Östermalm, and is scheduled to open in mid-September. Open evenings Wednesday to Saturday.
