Tapphuset opens on Skeppsholmen – beer, coffee and culture under one roof

Coffee in the morning light, beer at sunset and maybe a live band in between – Tapphuset is Skeppsholmen’s new meeting place for beer, art and culture

Tapphuset has quietly opened on Skeppsholmen. Behind this little gem is an entire family, led by son Nils Fallenius. The family already runs Kårboda brewery on Ljusterö, whose beers fill the glasses at the new bar alongside coffee and freshly baked buns. Sandwiches, charcuterie boards and other Austrian-inspired snacks are also on the way.

The location is no coincidence: this spot gets plenty of light virtually all day, making it just as natural a place for an early morning coffee as for a beer as the sun begins to set. Combine your visit with a walk around Skeppsholmen. The island is small enough for a quick stroll, while still providing the right atmosphere before you settle in.

The interior is Nils’ own work – he studied art and industrial design and has designed and built parts of the interior himself. The walls feature art by young, often local artists, several of whom also work at the venue. The works are available to buy, with all proceeds going to the artists behind them.

The plan is for Tapphuset to eventually become a stage for more than coffee and beer – live bands and quiz nights are already in the works.

Tapphuset has been quietly opening this week, with the official opening on Friday 21 August. The address is Holmamiralens torg 8. Opening hours: Tue–Thu: 09–23, Fri–Sat: 09–00, Sun: 09–22.
