So, you've checked off the Vasa Museum and wandered the cobbled streets of Gamla Stan – what's next? If you're looking to treat yourself, pick up a thoughtful souvenir or simply experience how Stockholmers shop, make your way to Westfield Mall of Scandinavia.

Known simply by locals as MOS (pronounced mooo-ss – almost like a cow's "moo" with an s on the end), the mall is located in the neighbouring suburb of Solna, just two stops north of Stockholm Central on the commuter train (pendeltåg).

The mall is a destination in its own right, where shopping, dining and entertainment come together under one roof. It's the kind of place where you can easily spend an entire day – whether you're updating your wardrobe, settling in for a long lunch, catching the latest blockbuster or simply browsing its unmatched mix of international and Scandinavian brands.

Right next door is Strawberry Arena, making Westfield Mall of Scandinavia a natural stop before or after a concert, major sporting event or Sweden International Horse Show. Whether you're planning a full day out or just have a few hours to spare, there's plenty to keep you busy.

From world-class shopping and dining to family-friendly attractions, Westfield Mall of Scandinavia has something for everyone. Here are ten reasons to add it to your Stockholm itinerary.

1. Explore Top Swedish brands

You've most likely heard of IKEA and H&M, two of Sweden's most iconic brands. You'll find both at Westfield Mall of Scandinavia, alongside plenty of other homegrown favourites. Refresh your wardrobe or browse Swedish design at the furniture giant and fuel up with its legendary meatballs and cinnamon buns.

Looking for a little shine? Browse Efva Attling's jewellery collections – worn by the likes of Madonna and Uma Thurman – or shop Scandinavian premium brands at J.Lindeberg, Oscar Jacobson and Jackie. For Swedish design, beauty and homeware, head to Åhléns, while Cervera is the go-to for stylish kitchen essentials, glassware and timeless products from leading Swedish designers. Besides the Swedish brands, make sure not to miss the Flagship Avenue, where brands like Apple, Zara, Uniqlo, Mango and Breitling line up.

2. Experience VR adventure and challenge your friends to interactive games

How about performing your own version of ‘Dancing Queen’? Gather your friends and book a private karaoke room at S2 Restauranghall, where thousands of songs are just a tap away. Better yet, order food and drinks straight to your room so you can keep the party going between performances.

If you're after even more action, head to O'Learys, where you can challenge your travel companions to bowling, shuffleboard, billiards, bumper cars and more. The Game Zone takes things up a notch with VR experiences, interactive games, bowling and adventures featuring everything from dinosaurs to zombies – fun for kids and grown-ups alike.

Round off the day with a film at Filmstaden Scandinavia, home to one of Sweden's few IMAX cinemas. With its giant screen and immersive sound system, it's the perfect place to experience the latest blockbuster in spectacular fashion.
