Stockholm’s best festivals for summer 2026

Stockholm isn’t known as a die-hard festival city – and that’s exactly why each festival that actually takes place feels that little bit more special. Time Out guides you to the city’s best festival experiences this summer

Even though blockbuster festivals like Lollapalooza and Summerburst are once again absent in 2026, there’s no need to despair. Summer in Stockholm still has plenty of top-tier festival experiences to offer, as this year’s line-up more than proves.

Festival favourite Rosendal Garden Party’s scenic oasis attracts global stars like TLC and Faithless, the nostalgia fest Vi älskar delivers singalongs under open skies, and Vinterviken Sunset Session brings a mini folk-park feel with smart bookings.

Whether you fancy belting out Scooter on Gärdet, experiencing David Byrne’s enigmatic stage presence on Djurgården or discovering your new favourite artist in the city centre at the free Kulturfestivalen, there’s something for every musical taste and budget this summer.

Here are five festivals in Stockholm summer 2026 worth booking in already.

Stockholm’s best festivals summer 2026

1. Rosendal Garden Party, 12–14 June

Since launching in 2022, Rosendal Garden Party has grown year by year and firmly established itself in the minds of Stockholmers – to the point where it now acts as an unofficial kick-off to summer.

Tucked into the greenery of Djurgården, a hidden summer oasis unfolds, complete with food trucks hosting guest appearances from well-known Stockholm restaurants, natural wine bars and art – plus a large stage where global artists like The Strokes, M.I.A. and Tyler, the Creator have delivered acclaimed performances in previous years.

One of the festival’s strengths is that it feels like a boutique festival – small enough to feel intimate, big enough to attract world-class acts. Another is its clearly defined genre-themed days, making it easy to buy a single-day ticket and tailor your experience.

This year is no exception. Friday June 12 leans towards pop with Swedish artists Agnes and Augustine, spiced up by British electro pioneers Faithless, playing their first Sweden show in two decades. Saturday June 13 shifts towards R&B with TLC and Kaytranada as headliners. And the final day, June 14, is all about rock, featuring shoegaze legends Slowdive and Talking Heads frontman David Byrne. Get in the mood with ‘Stop Making Sense’, often ranked as the world’s best concert film, ahead of the closing performance.

Single-day tickets from 895 SEK. Three-day tickets from 1,995 SEK. Buy tickets for Rosendal Garden Party here.

2. Kulturfestivalen, 12–16 August

Every August, the cultural temperature rises a few degrees in Stockholm as Kulturfestivalen takes over the city centre for five days. The best part? The festival is completely free.

Venues stretch from Gustav Adolfs torg and Skeppsbron to Kungsträdgården and Sergels torg – the city itself becomes the festival site. Around every corner, something new awaits: a dance performance here, a street food stall there, and nightlife by the water as dusk falls.

Kulturfestivalen is no small operation. Last year’s edition clocked over two million visitors and 600 events (or ‘programme starts’, in official Swedish terms). It’s the kind of festival where you make a plan in advance, only to end up somewhere entirely different by the end of the night.

The music bookings are often surprisingly strong for a free event. Previous years have seen artists like Daniela Rathana, The Hives and Seinabo Sey perform on the main stage at Gustav Adolfs torg.

This year’s programme will be released in June – but mark August 12–16 in your calendar already.

3. Vinterviken Sunset Session, 21–22 August

Most Stockholmers know Vinterviken as one of the city’s most beautiful and cosy excursion spots – a green oasis with a garden café and flower beds in Aspudden. But every late summer, the pram-friendly idyll transforms into something else.

Over two evenings in August, Vinterviken Sunset Session takes over the garden with live music, DJs, festival food and the close-knit, loving atmosphere the festival has become known for since its launch. It’s a small festival in the best sense – intimate enough for gigs to feel personal, well-booked enough to surprise. The stripped-back stage also brings certain folk-park associations, which is always a good thing.

This year’s line-up is strong. On Friday August 21, Girl Scout take to the stage – currently one of Sweden’s most hyped indie rock bands, with international acclaim and an impressive European tour behind them – alongside Copenhagen duo Snuggle. The following day brings more Danish talent in the form of Elias Rønnenfelt, frontman of Danish post-punk band Iceage, performing with a new solo album.

Single-day tickets 350 SEK (early bird). Two-day tickets 490 SEK (early bird). Buy tickets for Vinterviken Sunset Session here.

4. Vi älskar, 26–27 June

‘We play everything you know the words to.’ No, it’s not a radio station tagline – it’s the motto of festival Vi älskar (formerly Vi som älskar 90- och 00-talet), which this year celebrates its 10th anniversary with two packed days of nostalgia on Gärdet.

You won’t find the kind of ‘cool’ bookings seen at Rosendal Garden Party or Vinterviken Sunset Session here. Instead, you’ll be shouting along at the top of your lungs to hits from E-type, Scooter, Drömhus, Cascada and Robin Cook.

It’s all about that special feeling when a song you haven’t heard in 20 years suddenly fills your chest – and you realise you still know every single word. Thousands of people in the same euphoric state, all at once, under open skies on Gärdet, is a force that’s hard to argue with.

‘We play everything you know the words to.’ You could certainly be having a worse time.

Single-day tickets from 995 SEK. Two-day tickets from 1,595 SEK. Buy tickets for Vi älskar here.
