May keeps things varied across Thailand’s getaway scene, with a mix of dining-led stays and resort experiences worth planning around. Koh Samui leads with two reasons to check out for a few days – Banyan Tree Samui’s ‘Connections’ programme built around shared wellbeing rituals, and Nikki Beach Resort & Spa Koh Samui’s ‘Summer Staycation’ offer with across-the-board perks. Chiang Mai draws attention with afternoon tea and bottomless brunch at Chiang Mai Marriott Hotel, while Bangkok brings a short-run one-Michelin-starred takeover at Park Hyatt Bangkok. Down by the coast, Hua Hin Marriott Resort & Spa offers a flexible stay-and-spend package that makes it easy to stretch out a beach break.

If you’re looking for an excuse to travel this month, these are the getaways worth booking.

Banyan Tree Samui launches ‘Connections’, a new programme built around shared experiences for two. It begins with a personalised wellbeing consultation before moving into a tailored mix of activities that balance movement and hands-on rituals. Dive into private yoga sessions and sound healing meditation, alongside a herbal massage oil and reflexology workshop where you learn techniques to use beyond the stay.

The programme also includes two 60-minute spa treatments taken side by side, plus lighter activities like kayaking and an introduction to Muay Thai. There’s a private culinary session in the mix and an intimate beach dinner to close. Everything unfolds across the resort’s stunning hillside of pool villas overlooking the Gulf of Thailand.

Chiang Mai Marriott Hotel lines up a couple of easy reasons to settle in this month, starting with its ‘Summer Bliss’ afternoon tea. Built around the sweet-tart punch of Marian plum, the set leans into both savoury and dessert bites, from ma hor with minced chicken to scallops with plum salsa, followed by pavlova, mille-feuille and other pastry-led finishes. It’s served across a few spots in the hotel, so you can take it poolside or keep things more low-key indoors.

On Sundays, Favola shifts the mood with a bottomless brunch that runs twice a month. The format is simple: Italian dishes and two hours of free-flow drinks, with the option to upgrade for a broader drinks selection.

Park Hyatt Bangkok marks its ninth anniversary with a tight, limited-run collaboration with NAWA Thai Cuisine. The one-Michelin-starred restaurant brings its ingredient-led, detail-focused approach into a nine-course tasting format, drawing from Thai flavours across regions and reworking them with a more contemporary hand.

Dishes glide through familiar territory like nam prik, tom yum and tom kha, but with sharper presentation and balance, keeping the menu familiar and refined. The setting on Level 9 is reworked for the occasion, keeping the experience intimate and food-focused.

Hua Hin Marriott Resort & Spa rolls out a ‘Stay, Spend, Savour’ package that builds extra value into a straightforward beach escape. The idea is simple. Book a stay and you get daily breakfast, plus resort credit that stacks as you spend across dining and spa. It’s flexible enough to shape around how you want to use the property, whether that’s long lunches at Amber Kitchen, seafood by the beach at Big Fish & Bar, or a slower afternoon at Quan Spa.

With five pools set across landscaped gardens and direct access to the beach, the resort already does the heavy lifting when it comes to easy, low-effort holidays. This package just gives you more room to move between meals, drinks and treatments without overthinking it. Ideal for families too.

A barefoot luxury staycation deal lands at Nikki Beach Koh Samui

Nikki Beach Koh Samui leans into summer with a ‘Summer Staycation’ offer aimed at those already in Thailand. The package folds in across-the-board discounts, covering rooms, dining and spa, so you can move between beach club lounging, meals and treatments without switching gears.

Days here tend to revolve around the beach club. Hang out in poolside cabanas with DJs on rotation and Escape restaurant will handle sunset dinners with a Thai-Mediterranean angle. When you’re not eating, there’s enough on hand to keep things active, from paddleboarding and Muay Thai to yoga and ice baths. Or you can ignore all of that and stay horizontal by the pool.
