It’s not hard to find a great burger in Tokyo, but these days they rather often come with a steep price tag. That’s why we’re excited about the latest addition to the city’s gourmet burger scene: Neo Nice Burger.
Opened in early October, this fresh spot along Miyamasuzaka in Shibuya is run by the company behind the popular bakeries I’m Donut? and Amam Dacotan. Aiming to offer a more casual way to enjoy gourmet burgers, the venture was launched by chef Ryota Hirako in response to rising prices, with the goal of making well-crafted burgers more accessible.

The bright, lively space features an open kitchen where you can watch the team preparing everything from freshly baked burger buns to crisp fries. The restaurant takes pride in making nearly everything in-house – from the bread and sides to condiments like ketchup and mayonnaise. Best of all, prices are refreshingly reasonable, with burgers starting at ¥450 and sides going for ¥400.

As you’d expect from a company with a background in baking, the burger buns are a standout. Three types are available, including soft brioche buns with a texture reminiscent of I’m Donut?’s nama doughnuts.

The burger patties are made with Angus beef and cooked smash style, seasoned simply with salt and pepper.

The menu features 13 burgers, from the classic Neo Nice Burger with the restaurant’s signature tomato sauce to the Neo Teriyaki Burger and more adventurous options like the Caesar Bacon Burger and Tandoori Chicken Burger.

As for sides, opt for fries made from Hokkaido-grown Hokkai Kogane potatoes or a healthy salad cup served with an original Caesar sauce.

Save room for dessert – the building also houses a new I’m Donut? outpost, with a shared second-floor eat-in space for both venues.
