Following the declaration of a state of emergency for seven prefectures due to the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic, major brands have decided to close stores indefinitely, including popular coffee chain Starbucks.

All Starbucks outlets in Tokyo, Saitama, Chiba, Kanagawa, Osaka, Hyogo and Fukuoka prefectures are closed indefinitely from April 9. Stores in all other prefectures remain open, but now operate with shorter hours (closing at 7pm) and reduced seating to support social distancing.

Even though we all have to stay home to avoid the spread of coronavirus, that doesn’t mean you have to forego your favourite café treats – you can make them in your own kitchen using our handy guide.
