Looking to try one of Asia’s best bars? Head to the Tokyo Edition Ginza hotel, where the in-house bar Punch Room Tokyo has just launched the third edition of its Wonderland cocktail menu. The bar specialising in traditional punch ranked 23rd in Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2026, making it Japan’s top entrant on the prestigious list.

Wonderland Vol. 3 explores the bar’s punch roots through five classic elements: spirits, spices, citrus, tea and sugar. The menu pairs them with Japanese history, ingredients and food culture for a contemporary take on the drink that predates the modern cocktail.

Here are some of the unique concoctions created by bar director Yasuhiro Kawakubo, along with the Japanese cultural inspirations and themes behind each one.

The ‘Port Town’ category features drinks inspired by three of Japan’s major port cities – Yokohama, Kobe and Nagasaki – and made with Japanese spirits. A highlight is Sol Kobeno, inspired by the Kobe-born cocktail Sol Cubano. It blends rum, grapefruit, mint tea and ramune for a refreshing, easy-drinking cocktail.

Under the theme of ‘Yokai’, or supernatural beings, these cocktails take inspiration from stories passed down through generations and feature Japanese citrus. The Nekra-Oni, for example, combines jabara citrus with peach tea, vermouth and Scarlet herbal liqueur.

For the ‘Wagashi’, or Japanese sweets category, try cocktails inspired by traditional confections. The Mitarashi Old Fashioned takes its cues from mitarashi dango, combining Iichiko Saiten shochu with kinako, hojicha, sweet-and-savoury mitarashi sauce, sesame and a hint of hinoki.

Finally, the ‘Japanese Food’ category draws on the spicy, savoury flavours of Japanese cuisine. Try the Kare Margarita, a spicy take on the classic made with Don Julio Reposado, spiced agave honey, chai, coffee beans, apple, garlic, onion and habanero pepper. Its flavours are inspired by a classic Japanese curry.
