While many costume shops in Tokyo generally cater to the cosplay community, these shops will have more of your general Halloween-themed costumes, from pumpkins and vampires to your favourite Pokémon.

This massive shopping complex in Akihabara is your one-stop shop for everything you need (or think you need). Open till 5am, it offers everything from groceries and appliances to costumes and makeup – all at fairly reasonable prices. For costumes, this Don Quijote has a dedicated area for Halloween garb along with another floor almost entirely dedicated to more costumes, including a great mix of Japanese-inspired get-up like daruma dolls, sushi rolls and maneki nekos.

From stationery to toilet-seat covers, this is the largest household goods store in Tokyo, packed with knickknacks for the home. Particularly interesting is the party supplies section, which gives a unique glimpse into the Japanese sense of humour. Tokyu Hands also happens to have a pretty good selection of costumes to pick from. Whether you're looking to go full out freaky or just need a few accessories, it should have what you need to get you through Halloween.
