Japan is a hub for all things kawaii. From Hello Kitty to Pokémon, you’ll find restaurants, stores and even theme parks dedicated to these world-famous characters. While the beloved feline and pocket monsters have their origins in Japan, the country also adores Snoopy, the anthropomorphic beagle created by American cartoonist Charles M Schulz.

Snoopy and the entire Peanuts gang are wildly popular in Japan. You’ll find many attractions dedicated to Snoopy, Woodstock and Charlie Brown – there’s an entire museum, cafés and even a ride at Universal Studios Japan. Consider yourself an ultimate Peanuts fan? These are the top Snoopy things to do in Tokyo and across Japan.

Tokyo’s very own Snoopy Museum, which relocated from Roppongi to Grandberry Park in Minami-Machida in 2019, features plenty of original Peanuts drawings, art, vintage collectibles and a number of Schulz's early works. There are also special exhibitions which rotate every six months as well as workshops to create your very own Snoopy souvenir (advance reservations for workshops can be made here).

The museum is also home to a gorgeous Peanuts Cafe as well as The Brown's Store, where you can stock up on limited-edition Peanuts merchandise.

The Peanuts Cafe at The Snoopy Museum (see above) is particularly spacious. The menu specialises in picnic-inspired meals, with finger food served in dainty picnic baskets, along with cast iron pizzas, fresh salads and more.

The café's picture windows let in lots of natural light while looking out to the surrounding greenery, which makes you feel as if you are sitting outside. One section of the café even features a massive red frame in the shape of Snoopy's doghouse, with table seating underneath.

Looking for somewhere more central? There’s another, albeit smaller, Peanuts Cafe and merch shop located in Nakameguro.

Inspired by Charles M Schulz's famous comic strips, the Peanuts Hotel in Kobe is located near Sannomiya Station in the city's main entertainment area. Every floor at this stylish hotel features a different theme, and no two rooms are alike. However, you can be sure that each room is adorned with your favourite Peanuts characters. The hotel is also home to a Peanuts Diner, so you can eat, sleep and dream in the company of Snoopy and friends.

Everyone’s beloved beagle gets a Japanese twist at the gorgeous Snoopy Cha-ya in the onsen town of Yufuin in Oita prefecture. The Japanese-style teahouse boasts a selection of cute dishes made with locally sourced ingredients, like the Snoopy Bungo Chicken Tempura plate topped with edible cut-outs of Snoopy and Woodstock.

Got a sweet tooth? Opt for the Snoopy pancakes served with matcha ice cream, warabi mochi (bracken starch jelly) and drizzles of kuromitsu (brown sugar syrup). You can also browse the adjoining merchandise store to stock up on takeaway treats and confectionery gifts including Snoopy dorayaki.

Snoopy Cha-ya also has outposts in other Japan cities including Kyoto, Ise and Otaru.
