Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau (President: Hiroshi Mizohata) and Original Inc. (Shibuya, Tokyo; President: Hiroyuki Fushitani), the operator of Time Out Tokyo, have entered into a mutual collaboration agreement aimed at increasing the attractiveness of the city of Osaka and, with a view to a new era in Osaka tourism after the Covid-19 pandemic, turning the city into the top destination for international culture and tourism in Asia.

Aims of the agreement

As strategic and comprehensive partners, the parties will seek to use their respective resources and networks to bring about a new era in Osaka tourism through the realization of a 24-hour tourism city rooted in diversity. The agreement aims to turn Osaka into a leader in international culture and tourism by enhancing the city’s attractiveness and improving its brand power, engaging in urban development geared toward sustainable tourism, and growing the city’s transient population through increases in domestic and foreign tourism.

Outline of the agreement

'Nextourism Osaka' initiatives:

1) Realization of 24-hour tourism in Osaka, an Asian hub city

2) Effective use of existing networks for conveying information

3) Creation of an urban development framework geared toward sustainable tourism.

The parties will be collaborating in the following nine tourism fields:

  • Luxury tourism
  • Gastronomy tourism
  • Heritage tourism
  • Universal tourism
  • Green tourism
  • LGBTQ tourism
  • Resilient tourism
  • Promotion of meta-tourism
  • Promotion of tourism-related digital transformation
