Sumida river’s Christmas illuminations are here to stay until mid-January. Plus, the organisers are also hosting a celebratory countdown party with additional light-ups for the New Year. The shimmering display on the trees and fences near the Sumida park entrance will feature the year 2020 as well as the 12 zodiac signs. At 11:45pm, hordes of lanterns will be floated on the pond to get ready for the countdown, and you’ll also be able to witness the Tokyo Skytree light-up from this location.
