Yonder
September 21 to November 27, 2016
Koffler Gallery & Artscape Youngplace, 180 Shaw Street
Curators: Matthew Brower and Mona Filip

The most ambitious exhibition in the Koffler Gallery's history, Yonder takes over the Koffler Gallery and all three floors of Artscape Youngplace, including the hallway galleries, stairwells, and the building's exterior.

Exploring themes of intercultural translation, displacement and identity construction, twenty Canadian artists from diverse cultural backgrounds examine the immigrant condition through recent and new works in a variety of media. Moving from an investigation of subjective inquiries to larger questions and shared experiences, Yonder invites reflection on the dislocations and adaptations triggered by the complex decision to uproot oneself and cross borders.

Lead Exhibition Sponsor: Partners in Art.
Additional Support: Circuit Gallery and Faculty of Information, University of Toronto.
