Hosted by Anandam Dance Theatre – AiR will help further our fluency in dance and performing arts in Toronto and Canada and supports participants in evolving a deep practice of being an audience member, exploring meaning and experience in contemporary performance in a community setting.

Join Anandam's Audience In Residence (AiR) for an evening of discussion and dialogue that engage with the works of all of our days have breath: a record of momentum.

The AiR is an audience engagement program where participants gather monthly for a salon style events to discuss and respond to works in ways that examine curiosity as a skill and audience as a practice of how we explore being with live performance and dance. Open to the Public/ Drop ins welcome!

Co-hosted by artist/Artistic Director of Anandam Dancetheatre Brandy Leary-and The Curatorial and Program Development Co Director Soraya Peerbaye.

Peerbaye was a shortlisted nominee for the Gerald Lampert Award in 2010 for her poetry collection Poems for the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names,and for the Griffin Poetry Prize in 2016 for Tell: poems for a girlhood. She was the Dance Officer at the Toronto Arts Council, and prior to that the Equity Officer at the Canada Council for the Arts. She is a long-time advocate for artists of colour and diasporic artistic and cultural practices.

Brandy Leary creates contemporary performances through the body: active as a dancer, choreographer, aerialist, writer, arts advocate, community cultivator, space maker, Artistic Director, educator and curator. Her performance works have been produced and performed in Canada, Europe, India, South Africa and the USA in theatres, urban environments, festivals, museums, art galleries and isolated landscapes.
