Sam Mardini is a Salsa & Bachata instructor that has returned to Toronto from Seoul, South Korea in late 2015. A Toronto native, he learned salsa way back in 2001 with his first teacher: CDC’s director Jerome Jean-Gilles. He left Toronto for South Korea in 2008 & was shocked at the massive & hardcore Salsa scene in Seoul! Sam subsequently started his own dance community of expats & Koreans and has since taught, performed, organized, and promoted Salsa & Bachata in Seoul & across Asia from 2010-2015. He was invited around Asia to teach Salsa & Bachata workshops at dance festivals in Taiwan, Singapore, China, Thailand, Japan, & the Phillipines for his “Sabor Aplenty” style of Salsa & Bachata. He has hosted & showcased some of the world’s most renowned Bachata instructors to share & spread his love of Bachata. His annual “Salchata” festivals in Seoul hosted such Bachata pioneers as Jorge Elizondo, Troy Anthony, Jorget Alcocer, Rodchata, & Bachata superstars Ataca y la Alemana. In 2014 he hosted New York’s world renowned Salsa team Zafire for his international Mambo dance festival along with Korea’s top dance schools. His events brought dancers from all over East Asia to dance in Seoul. Sam also hosted the first international Kizomba workshops in collaboration with the Angola embassy of South Korea in 2013 to introduce the dance to South Korea. His passion for dance is reflected in his eclectic and sabor aplenty style of Salsa & Bachata that he has formed over the past 15 years of dance.
