THE CARLTON MIDNIGHT SOCIETY
proudly presents:

A Bruno Mattei Double-Bill of
STRIKE COMMANDO & ROBOWAR

Saturday, June 18th marks the end of two landmark events here at the Carlton. One, being the first year of programming for THE MIDNIGHT SOCIETY and the other being REB FEST, our 3-month long celebration of the work of '80s cult action icon, Reb Brown. And we are celebrating both in the biggest, most insane way possible -- A BRUNO MATTEI DOUBLE-BILL of STRIKE COMMANDO and ROBOWAR!

There have been many successful director/actor relationships throughout the years - Martin Scorsese & Robert de Niro, Tim Burton & Johnny Depp, Sergio Leone & Clint Eastwood. But no other pairing has produced the sheer cinematic lunacy of Bruno Mattei & Reb Brown!

Called the "Ed Wood of Italy," Bruno Mattei has made some of the most stunning spaghetti nightmares ever committed to celluloid, not the least of which being TERMINATOR 2: SHOCKING DARK (the ALIENS / TERMINATOR mash-up masterpiece that enthralled Midnight Society audiences last August). Well, some would argue that Mattei's finest work was when he collaborated with of the most committed and certifiably insane actors of the '80s, Reb Brown to produce two top-notch action flicks in the Philippines that "creatively borrow" from three of the biggest Hollywood action blockbusters of all-time.

STRIKE COMMANDO (a.k.a. ITALIAN RAMBO) kicks off our double-bill at 9 PM and tells the story of Sgt. Mike Ransom (Reb Brown) who while operating behind enemy lines, learns of a Russian presence in North Vietnam. Ordered to obtain proof of this discovery, Ransom returns to enemy territory but is captured and subjected to a variety of tortures. Eventually he escapes to continue his mission despite being hampered by a traitor in his own ranks.

ROBOWAR (a.k.a. ITALIAN PREDATOR / ROBOCOP) screens at 11 PM and can best be described as a clone/mix of PREDATOR and ROBOCOP gone nuts jungle flick with an international cast, exotic locale and good electronic music.

We don't think we need to tell you that this is an incredibly rare opportunity to see both these flicks (of which there has NEVER been a legit home video release!) on the BIG SCREEN with an appreciative audience. So what are you waiting for? Tickets to see the Bruno Mattei Double-Bill are only $15 and they're on sale... like RIGHT NOW!
