Crooked Lines: Stories In Between says
Inspired by the sold-out success of RAW’s last concert (From Rage Comes), Crooked Lines: Stories In Between is a jam of both new and beloved songs played on the booming drums, story vignettes from the drummers’ lives, and artistic collaborations with venerated Asian Canadian performers Teiya Kasahara (voice) and Heidi Chan (percussion & music).

Crooked Lines will showcase RAW’s well-loved brand of ferocity and spirit that charges audiences with energy, and uplifts them with hope. In the spirit of writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s plea to resist the telling of a reductive, “single story”, Crooked Lines will trace the convoluted path that Raging Asian Women has traveled as an arts collective, and as individuals.

“Sharing the stage with the amazing musicians and performers in RAW is a transcendent experience. Through their music, they help the audience feel their own power and courage and anything becomes possible.” - Naomi Klein

"Dance, storytelling and drumming cross over for a breathtaking experience" - Samantha Edwards, NOW Magazine

Just as important: We are fundraising to cover every cost of the production: from theatre and equipment rentals, tech crew salaries, to publicity costs. We also make sure that fees for labour are all going to support and employ local artists and artistic technicians. Not only that, you also get satisfaction in knowing that your donations are supporting RAW, an arts community group that works with marginalized groups such as at-risk girls, queer and trans youth, and creating safe space for women.
