New Hope Fellowship Church - Toronto Campus says
Most people understand hope as wishful thinking, as in "I hope something will happen." Yet, this is not what the Bible means by hope.

The biblical definition of hope is "confident expectation." Hope is a firm assurance regarding things that are unclear and unknown. Hope is a fundamental component of the life of the righteous. Without hope, life loses its meaning. Biblical hope is not just a desire for somthing good in the future, but rather, biblical hope is a "confident expectation" and desire for something good in the future. There is moral certainty in it.

In this Advent/Christmas sermon series at New Hope, starting on Sunday Nov 29th, we examine the glimmering hope that is found in the birth of Jesus Christ and the difficult situations people around Him were facing. We'll see that hope can dawn from the darkest of situations.
