The First Supper Art Project says
You are warmly invited to attend The Feminist Art Conference and Exhibition 2017 Toronto. The Feminist Art Conference is a yearly multidisciplinary feminist art conference that inspires sharing, networking & collaboration.

This year a collaborative travelling art project "The First Supper" created by Hadieh Afshani (Iranian- Australian Artist) and Shirley Siegal (Israeli artist) is a part of the exhibition and conference too.

The First Supper alludes to the story from the Bible about ‘The Last supper’ and seeks to engage through paintings, art-objects and direct participation of the audience in ‘round table’ conversations.
The project centerpiece is a dining table with plates, cups, cutlery and tablecloth painted by the artists with portraits inspiring women.

Dining Table symbolizes nourishment and connection. The artists depict the Middle Eastern woman's centrality as the ‘Matriarch’ who calls the family to the table, and through food and talk conflicts are resolved and peace is made. This depiction envisions women’s significant potency is fixing issues and building peace in the Middle East: a presence that is missing.

The exhibition is open to public.
