Is the God of the Bible like the God of ISIS? w/ Q & A: Is God Relevant? Series ( Includes Free Lunch.

Perhaps what bothers us most about the atrocities of ISIS are acts of gratuitous (unjustified) evil, supposedly under the direction and command of their God. It has become quite popular to pick selected sentences out of the Bible and showcase them in an effort to portray God as one who orders gratuitous evil as well. It can be shown, however, that such conclusions often rest upon ignorance of other relevant passages, a lack of critical thinking, a light reading of the text, and unwarranted assumptions about how God ought to interact with humanity. If an effort is made to avoid these shortcomings, the God of the Bible emerges as quite different from first impressions.
