This sizzling new ensemble features Stefan Jackiw (violin), @Jay Campbell (cello), and Conrad Tao (piano). They will perform trios by Ives and Dvořák, as well as one early and one late trio by Mozart in a program that explores Mozart’s evolution in his treatment of independent voices - specifically the path from their interdependence in his early works to their independence from each other in his later works.

This independence of voices was then taken to an extreme by Ives, who often had unrelated voices in different keys sounding simultaneously. Dvořák picks up on another Ives thread and explores a completely different treatment of folk music.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Piano Trio No. 1 in B-flat Major, K. 254
Charles Ives: Piano Trio, S. 86
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Piano Trio No. 6 in G Major, K. 564
Antonín Dvořák: Piano Trio No. 3 in F Minor, Op. 65

Generously supported by David G. Broadhurst
