There’s no denying that Jesus of Nazareth was one of the most influential men who ever lived. The movement that began in his name has swept the globe and has influenced culture, politics, art, literature and more. But who was Jesus? Just a charismatic leader of men? A guru or prophet? Just a cleverly constructed myth or fable? Or something more than these? What explains the impact of this one solitary life?


DR. ANDY BANNISTER is a popular author, speaker and broadcaster. He speaks and teaches regularly throughout Canada, the USA, Europe, and the wider world, addressing audiences of all faiths and none on issues of philosophy, belief, and scepticism. Andy holds a doctorate in Islamic studies from Brunel University, London and is a guest lecturer at Wycliffe Hall, University of Oxford.

Recently, Dr. Andy Bannister released the book: The Atheist Who Didn't Exist: Or the Dreadful Consequences of Bad Arguments (Oxford: Lion). In this book he looks at common atheist soundbites that at first glance sound like quite powerful, but upon deeper examination begin to unravel. He uses humour, wit, good illustrations, logic, and reason to get to the bottom of things.

He enjoys mountaineering, juggling, and cats (although not simultaneously). He tweets frequently at @andygbannister.


JOHN BOWEN was educated at Oxford University (MA) and McMaster Divinity College (D.Min). For over 25 years, he worked for Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship, helping students figure out what they believed. He joined the faculty of Wycliffe College at the University of Toronto in 1997, and taught applied theology there until 2013. He is the author of three books (including The Spirituality of Narnia) and editor of two others. John has been married to Deborah, an English professor at Redeemer University College, for over forty years. They have two adult children and four grandchildren, of whom they are ridiculously proud.

IVY TYSON has degrees in history and anthropology from the University of Colorado and studied theology at Oxford University. She spent five years teaching and coaching public speaking and debate for students of all ages. She now facilitates global discussions on the relevance and value of the Christian worldview at RZIM Academy (a cutting-edge online learning platform), and participates in thoughtful university events around the world. As a writer she has also been involved in fiction, theater, television, and amateur film productions. She lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado with her mother, too many books, and a cat.
