120 DINER presents:
Jazz singer John Alcorn in *Week Three* of his tribute to the great geniuses of Broadway and Jazz in The Songbook Series. Joined by Reg Schwager (guitar) and Steve Wallace (bass), Alcorn will share two sets of Richard Rodgers and Larry Hart's incredible music and lyrics.

Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart worked together on 28 stage musicals and more than 500 songs. They produced their first successful Broadway musical in 1925, introducing their hit song, "Manhattan". They quickly became among the most popular songwriters in America, and from 1925 to 1931 had fifteen scores featured on Broadway.

In the early 1930s they moved to Hollywood, creating popular songs for film, such as "Isn't It Romantic?" and "Lover", before returning to Broadway in 1935, where they wrote a string of highly regarded Broadway musicals, most of which were hits.

Hart's lyrics, facile, vernacular, dazzling, sometimes playful, sometimes melancholic, raised the standard for Broadway songwriting. Rodgers, as a creator of melodies, ranks with Jerome Kern and Irving Berlin.

Their many hits include “My Romance”, “Blue Moon”, "Falling in Love with Love", "Little Girl Blue", "My Funny Valentine", "Mountain Greenery", "My Heart Stood Still", "You Took Advantage of Me", "The Blue Room", "Ten Cents a Dance", "Dancing on the Ceiling", "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered", and "Have You Met Miss Jones?".
