Ken Aldcroft Convergence Ensemble Canadian Tour Send-off and Trio Records Marketplace

On 7 October, the Main Hall of the Tranzac was the site of a massive outpouring of grief, love, and goodwill in the wake of Ken Aldcroft’s death in September. Ken’s family and the close friends who convened that event agreed to make it a ‘commerce-free’ event and opted not to sell any of the two-dozen releases of Ken’s music on his Trio Records label that represents a major part of his life’s work.

On 9 November, 10pm, the surviving members of Ken’s Convergence Ensemble will be playing at the Tranzac as a send-off for a coast-to-coast Canadian tour that Ken had booked before he died, a chance to celebrate his life and music throughout the country. The show at the Tranzac will also be a ‘marketplace’ for Trio Records; since Ken’s death, many have asked about acquiring his numerous recordings, and this is an opportunity to buy them at a reduced price ($5 each, 5 for $20) with all proceeds going to Maria and Liam Aldcroft.

Please come (once again for many) to celebrate Ken’s life and music, and to support his family by buying his recordings.

The Ken Aldcroft Convergence Ensemble:

Joe Sorbara, drums
Scott Thomson, trombone
Karen Ng, alto saxophone
Emily Denison, trumpet
Andrew Furlong, double bass
