KEYNOTE: Erika Elliott
"What is it like to be a woman in the music business"

Erika Elliott is a dedicated and creative leader in the music industry with over 20 years of experience in a variety of roles. Throughout her career, Ms. Elliott has played an instrumental role in launching the careers of new artists, most notably, Christina Aguilera, John Legend, Anthony Hamilton, Ledisi, and Kanye West. Today she holds the position of Executive Artistic Director of SummerStage, which is produced by the City Parks Foundation. SummerStage is the largest presenter of Free Arts and Culture in New York City, annually presenting more than 125 performances in sixteen parks throughout the five boroughs, including the annual Charlie Parker Jazz Festival. This Summit discussion aims to explore topics of equality in the music industry through the diverse experience, expertise, and perspectives of Ms. Elliott. She will share how she cultivated her career leading to the profession she finds herself in today. She will discuss how gender has played a role (or not) in achieving consistently high performing results, and share some insights she has learned along the way on how to successfully navigate being a woman in a male-dominated industry.
