Musicale: Car Wash says
On August 14, eavesdrop in on the employees of Los Angeles’ funk-fueled CAR WASH—the “wash-and-wax M*A*S*H” as per Roger Ebert. Michael Schultz’s day-in-the-life cult comedy features Richard Pryor, George Carlin, and The Pointer Sisters!

Originally conceived as a musical, CAR WASH follows the misadventures of a group of friends working at a car wash as they encounter the worst customers Los Angeles has to offer, including a money-hungry preacher (Richard Pryor) and a motor mouth cab driver (George Carlin).

Norman Whitfield, an originator of Motown Sound best known for his work with The Temptations and Marvin Gaye, produced the music for CAR WASH, collaborating with the R&B groups Rose Royce and The Pointer Sisters. Together, these Motown favourites created a Grammy Award-winning soundtrack that banked three Billboard R&B Top Ten singles, including “I'm Going Down” and “I Wanna Get Next to You.” The third single, the title track “Car Wash,” became one of disco’s biggest hits.

Please note that we will be screening the theatrical version of CAR WASH, in which Danny DeVito and Big Joe's Dog House are only seen in the background. You’ll need to get your DeVito fix elsewhere. May we suggest IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA?
