My Father’s Son brings together intricate lyrics and the richness of simplified, acoustic sound. Singer/songwriter Mark Kulmala is joined by Joelle Westman (Georgian Bay, 2017 Polaris Prize nominee) and Paul Meadows (Uisca Beatha, The Beauties) on the recording of their first full length album 'Heart of Wood'. Having played in different bands and a variety of genres over the years, this endeavour is a paired down amalgamation of lived experiences, both personal and musical, poetically put into emotionally complex but subdued, reflective songs. An air of story telling colours the music with sentimental and wholly relatable verses that communicate widely and are entirely immersive.

Jerry Leger, his band the Situation (James McKie, Dan Mock, Kyle Sullivan) organist Jeff Heisholt, Aaron Comeau on piano and backup vocalists (Carleigh Aikins, Tamara Lindeman, Ivy Mairi) recently recorded Early Riser, already album number seven in a remarkably young career. It’s the first to be produced and released on Latent Recordings by Michael Timmins of Cowboy Junkies, a man who unquestionably knows his way around a song.
