Neon Dreams Presents: Breathless (1983) says
Rarely are remakes as audacious or energetic as the American update of Jean Luc Godard’s 1960 French new wave classic. Manipulating its source material to fashion something truly unique and original, Jim McBride's (The Big Easy, Great Balls Of Fire) adaptation stars Richard Gere as a small-time hustler who shoots and kills a police officer while fleeing Las Vegas in a stolen car. When his picture starts turning up in the papers, he hides out in Los Angeles with a French student (the stunningly erotic Valérie Kaprisky), who, initially enamored by his sense of danger, begins questioning her commitment to him as the police close in.

Fiercely championed by the likes of Quentin Tarantino, who declared it one of the "coolest" movies ever made, commenting: "Here's a movie that indulges completely all my obsessions - comic books, rockabilly music and movies”. Heightened by an explicit dose of sexuality and the pastel-and-neon glow of 1983 Los Angeles, this truly is one of the hottest movies if its era. Come see Richard Gere in all his gun-slinging, pelvic-thrusting glory in a film that promises to leave you... BREATHLESS!

This screening and others are made possible thanks to our wonderful sponsors Sonic Boom and Hollywood Suite. As always there will be a fabulous pre-show and great prizes before the film, so be sure to arrive early!
