Neon Dreams is hopping into the summer heat with what is sure to be our most audacious and potentially shit-disturbing screening yet. And we could not be more excited about it.

Cruising is the fictional account of a series of gruesome killings in New York City. Steve Burns (Al Pacino), a "beat" officer still wet behind the ears, is recruited by Captain Edelson (Paul Sorvino) of the NYPD Homicide Unit to go undercover in search of the perpetrator. The victims in these killings are all homosexual men known to frequent "Leather," S&M (Sadism and Masochism), and B&D (Bondage and Dominance) clubs. Burns, in "deep cover," must mascarade as a homosexual in order to attract the killer.

Maligned by many upon its original release, audiences are now able to appreciate William Friedkin’s (To Live And Die In L.A.) outrageously intense thriller for both it's multifaceted portrayal of the LGBT culture of the 80s and for its fascinating window into a very specific subculture of a bygone era.

As always, this screening and all others are made possible thanks to our wonderful sponsor Sonic Boom, many drinks will be served courtesy of Monarch Tavern, and we will be kicking off the evening with an appropriately mind-melting pre-show. So get here early!
