New Votives explores the relationship between abandoned satellite dishes and their floating interstellar counterparts. Analogizing the history of modern day telecommunication and traditional votive sculpture of the Mesopotamian era, artist Benjamin Freedman exposes the tension of seemingly utopic possibilities of space development against the reality of derelict space junk scarring earth surface and atmosphere.
