Please join us on September 17th for the opening night of our next gallery show: Objectify--An art show with original works by Toronto artists Dave Murray and Kirsten McCrea.

Objectify seeks to reclaim what was never ours. Your feelings are stirred by devious, altered observations of our collective past presented as what might have been. A cosmic hiccup while experiencing deja vu. This is nostalgia peeking through half-busted social aspiration and a pretzeled, partially-digested kaleidoscope. A few of your favourite things have come to congregate, but not as you remember them. A few of your idols have come to visit, but oh my, where HAVE they been?

For Kirsten McCrea, Objectify is about mining the history of women's fashion magazines and vintage pornography to create mixed-media collage paintings and re-contextualize their subjects by changing key details, providing a glimpse into an alternate world, populated by hairy women, impossible positions, crude excretions, and overwhelming adornments.

In his world, Dave Murray has attempted to define a potential version of himself, or someone like him. Presented here are a series of portraits, defining and objectifying the different facets of a hypothetical nostalgia - one felt by Murray, but belonging to no one.

Blow off those TIFF plans and RSVP for this FREE night of art, objects and illusion.

Can't wait to see you there!
